We are hereby launching the full program of the Falken Tyres Sette Giugno Pozzallo Cruise 2022 which will take place between Saturday 4th June and Tuesday 7th June 2022.
The title sponsors for this event will, once again, be Falken Tyres who, together with their local agents 
of Santa Venera, will be providing participating
boats with flags, T-Shirts, caps and other Falken promotional material to identify the boats and the crew participating in this event.
Falken Tyres will also be subsidising part of the berthing fees in Pozzallo for the participating boats, the tour and lunch which will be held on Monday and the evening meals throughout the 3 days in Pozzallo.
This event is coordinated by the Malta Cruising Club with the cooperation of the Falken Tyres local agents, Standard Group, the Lega Navale (Sezione Pozzallo), the Comune di Pozzallo and Catania Gomme (agent for Falken Tyres Sicily).
This year we are introducing a few changes in the booking process for this cruise based on our experiences from previous editions of this event.
- We will cap the number of boats travelling to Pozzallo to 25 boats. Berthing in Pozzallo Marina is limited and the maximum number of boats that we can accommodate is not more than 25. Boats will be booked on a strict first-come-first-served basis.
- Booking for this event should be made on a form attached to this email sent out to all members. The form should be filled in and either emailed back to the Club Hon Secretary on maltacruisingclub@gmail.com or sent by post to the address indicated. No other form of booking will be accepted.
- Booking must be accompanied by a deposit of Euro 150 by the boat skipper and paid to the cashier either by Internet Bank Transfer or by cheque to the indicated address (details on the form). The deposit will cover the berthing fees of the boat for the whole three days; the Saturday and Sunday evening meals as well as the Monday day tour + lunch for the skipper of the boat. The rest of the crew will pay for their meals as indicated in the program.
- On Monday 30th May 2022 at 19:00 hrs a briefing for all skippers booked for this event will take place at the Falken Tyres local agent Standard Group in Santa Venera. Flags, T-shirts and caps for the skippers and crew will be distributed at this briefing. Full details can be found in the detailed program below.
All members who intend to join us this year to Pozzallo should fill in the application form (click here to download) as soon as possible and send it either via email or if paying by cheque to the address indicated on the booking form. Once we receive your form and payment, we will confirm your booking by email and call you for the briefing meeting on the 30th May 2022.
We are very eager to hold this event once again after a forced absence of two years in 2020 and 2021 and we are sure that the skippers and crew that will participate will enjoy their stay in Sicily.

06:00 / 07:00 hrs - Boats’ departure from Malta according to the cruising speed of the boat.
The Lega Navale Pozzallo boat s/y Vitae is expected to travel with us to Pozzallo after having spent a few days previously in Malta. The boat’s berthing at the Creek Marina in Ta’ Xbiex is kindly sponsored by Creek Developments plc
14:00 / 15:00 hrs – Arrival at Pozzallo
17:00 hrs – Sunday Mass at the Lega Navale Boat House
For those who would like to attend for the Sunday Mass, we have asked the Lega Navale Pozzallo President to organise Holy Mass (in Italian) for us, as they always did in previous years.
18:00 hrs – Sunday’s Sailing Event briefing at the Lega Navale Boat House
For those taking part in the Sunday Sailing Event orginised by the Lega Navale Italiana, Pozzallo , there will be a briefing at the Lega Navale Pozzallo Boat House followed by drinks offered by Lega Navale.
20:00 hrs – Dinner at La Piscina Restaurant in Pozzallo (€30 per person)
La Piscina restaurant is located within a short walking distance from the Marina. Dinner consists of a 3-course meal and includes wine and water on the table.
Sunday 5th June 2022
08:30 hrs – Lega Navale Pozzallo’s Sailing event.
This is a friendly short cruise between the visiting boats and some other boats from Pozzallo along the coast organised by the Lega Navale of Pozzallo.
11:00 hrs – Trip to Ragusa Ibla City Centre (FREE)
We give an opportunity for crews to spend some time discovering the beautiful town of Ragusa Ibla and its historical centre.
The coach taking us to Ragusa Ibla will make a stop at the Centro Commerciale Ibleo in Ragusa itself. You can do some shopping there for a variety of items from branded clothes and shoes to electronic goods as well as specialised shops like Bricoman and Decathlon. The coach will leave Pozzallo marina area at 11:00 hrs and the same coach will pick you up from Ragusa centre and the shopping mall at 15:00 hrs to take you back to Pozzallo Marina.
20:00 hrs – Dinner at the Al Porto Restaurant (€35 per person)
The official sponsors Falken Tyres Dinner will take place at the Armenia Al Porto Restaurant at 20:00 hrs. The meal will consist of 3 courses based on local fish and also includes wine and water. The restaurant is right across the road from the Pozzallo Marina entrance; a short 5-minute walk. The Mayor of Pozzallo and senior managers from Falken Tyres (Italia) will be in attendance. Please wear your Falken T-shirts for this event.
Monday 6th June 2022
09:00 hrs – A whole day Tour by private coach. (€30 per person for the tour including lunch)
We will be making a visit to Mulino Angelica a very interesting flour milling establishment where local Sicilian grain is turned into flour products using the traditional stone milling process. Afterwards we go to Azienda Agricola Magazze’, a Mediterranean buffalo farm in Croce Camerina. We will have a brief tour of the process of turning buffalo milk in mozzarella products then we will have lunch based on products produced on the farm.
The price includes the coach trip to the Mulino Angelica and Lunch at the Azienda Agricola Magazze’ plus mineral water and wine on the table.
17:00 hrs – Back in Pozzallo
Evening : Free
For those who would like to have a pizza or a plate of pasta in the evening, we suggest the Sea Sound Restaurant a short distance away from the Pozzallo Marina. We have contacted the management of the restaurant and reserved some tables for our skippers and crews. You can order what you want and pay directly to the restaurant.

Boats’ departure from Pozzallo back to Malta
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- A briefing will be held for all skippers of participating boats at the offices of the Falken Tyres Agent in Malta (Standard Group – Triq il-Kanun, Santa Venera) on Monday 30th May 2022 at 19:00 hrs.
- At the end of the briefing, Falken Tyres promotional material will be distributed to all skippers and crew of participating boats. It is important that when you book your boat you designate the number of crew making the trip to Pozzallo on your boat

Preparation for the trip
Before setting out to sea on Saturday 4th June, please make sure that:
- Your boat is seaworthy, mechanically sound and you have enough fuel on board for at least the 51 nautical miles crossing to Pozzallo.
- You have the appropriate life-saving equipment on board for all the persons on board your vessel.
- You have the appropriate navigation instruments in good working order, and more importantly, a fully functional VHF radio.
- You have adequate boat insurance that covers the Italian Territorial waters.
- You have your boat registration and boat insurance documents on board.
- You have personal crew documents (passport or an ID Card in the case of EU nationals) for each crew member on board.
Please also note that:
All boats taking part in this Cruise, their skippers and crew are participating in this event entirely at their own risk. Skippers and their crew/friends must rely on their ability in dealing with hazards at sea or on land. Any direction given to them by any member or officer of the Malta Cruising Club shall be interpreted as a bona fede suggestion and they must decide personally whether to follow that direction or not.
Malta Cruising Club or any member or officer of the Club or its sponsor will not be liable for any loss or damage, action, claim, cost or expenses, which may arise as a consequence of their participation in this event either during the crossings to and from Pozzallo or during the stay in Sicily.
Please appreciate that this event is not a “package tour” put together for financial gain. The Malta Cruising Club’s responsibility is limited to ensuring that the events listed in the official program distributed to the skippers have been booked and will take place as indicated.
By joining the Falken Tyres Sette Giugno Pozzallo Cruise, you confirm that you understand and accept the above and you also accept that you have a responsibility to act in a way that will minimise the likelihood of injury to yourself and others and that your boat and your crew are fit to take part in this event.
