Commodore’s Award Moves to Sicily!

In 2013 the Malta Cruising Club launched a new event in its sailing programme meant to be held annually and to be always associated with a particular national day. This was the Sette Giugno Cruise to Pozzallo which immediately became highly popular with members and non-members alike, who on this occasion are welcomed, to what matured to become an enjoyable all-family event.

The introduction of the Sette Giugno Cruise also served to establish a sound friendly and working relationship between the Maltese sailing club and the Lega Navale Italiana – Sezione di Pozzallo led by their enthusiastic President Dott. Ing. Luigi Tussellino.

On the seven occasions this 50 nautical miles has been held the friendly and fervent collaboration of Luigi Tussellino and his team to make the visit and stay of the Maltese sailing community in Pozzallo a pleasant one was ever so present – whether in visits to wine tasting sessions or other relaxing tours to assist in the production of ricotta, cheeses or to participate in the production of home made bread.

For these delightful and supportive characteristics Dott. Ing. Luigi Tussellino. was nominated winner of the Malta Cruising Club Commodore’s Award for 2021.

The Commodore’s Award Trophy was presented to the Malta Cruising Club by Mike Mifsud, then Secretary of the Club. Since then this recognition has been awarded on six other occasions, namely to David Dingli (2011), Austin Calleja (2013), Pierre Aquilina (2017), Patrick & Nadine Genovese (2018), John Cini (2019) and Dr Carmel Abela (2020).
